Messages that may indicate the user is trying to use the phone while driving |
||||||
"Turn off", when used with Android and some Windows phones, means network connections are turned off. Voice, email, text, and internet are disabled. |
||||||
| "PhonEnforcer turned off phone" followed quickly by "PhonEnforcer is on". | ||||||
| This indicates the user turned on the phone after PhonEnforcer turned off the phone while driving. Unless this was a very short trip, the user is likely turning on the phone while still driving. Note: PhonEnforcer on Blackberry phones using Sprint may not work properly if the phone is powered on before 5 minutes have passed. | ||||||
| "GPS data is not available. PhonEnforcer is not working properly" or "PhonEnforcer is restarted because GPS data is available", or both messages received near the same time. | ||||||
The first message can be caused by the user turning off the phone's GPS. PhonEnforcer needs GPS data to turn off the cell phone while driving. GPS may also not be available due to network failure. The second message is sent when GPS data becomes available after PhonEnforcer was not receiving GPS data. This message can be generated by the user turning on the GPS. The first message may not be sent in some situations. Both messages indicate that GPS may have been turned off by the user. The messages will also be sent if GPS data was not available from the service provider. If the messages are received near the same time, the user may have turned off the GPS while the phone was off. This would be an attempt to use the phone while driving and avoid detection. The messages are sent when the phone is turned back on. |
||||||
| "PhonEnforcer detected an irregular shutdown" | ||||||
| This message is sent when PhonEnforcer is turned on. This indicates PhonEnforcer was previously stopped by a method other than turning off the application on the settings screen. Using phone control functions (such as Force Stop) to turn off PhonEnforcer will cause this message. The user is likely trying to prevent PhonEnforcer from turning off the phone. This message is also sent when the phone is powered off, then back on, while PhonEnforcer was running. | ||||||
| "PhonEnforcer permissions have been altered" | ||||||
| This indicates the user has changed the way the application interacts with the phone so PhonEnforcer will not work properly. When the settings are changed back to normal, you will receive the message "PhonEnforcer permissions are Allow". Rebooting the phone is necessary even if you receive the message "PhonEnforcer permissions are Allow" prior to reboot. | ||||||
| Consecutive messages "PhonEnforcer is on" (with no message PhonEnforcer has been turned off" in between) | ||||||
| This can indicate the user has altered device settings to use the phone while driving. This situation can also occur because the phone was powered on (for example, after an automatic overnight turn off) following an end to driving the previous day. Receiving this message consecutively within a short time indicates the user is turning the phone on after PhonEnforcer turned off the phone. PhonEnforcer is likely still turning off the phone, but the messages are failing due to the rapid off/on/off cycle. | ||||||
| Receiving many messages in a short time can indicate PhonEnforcer is not working properly | ||||||
| When many messages are sent in a short time by PhonEnforcer, some phones will allow the user to stop PhonEnforcer from sending subsequent messages. In normal use, you should not receive multiple messages in a short time period. | ||||||
